Dr. Buddy Bonner served three decades as an educator in Lewisville ISD schools as a teacher, assistant principal and principal, and administrator. Buddy is married to his wife Rebecca, and their blended family has five kids, four in college and early adulthood, and one attending Briarhill MS. Rebecca is a school counselor at Mill Street Elementary School. The Bonners attend Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church and have been members since 1999.

As a student, Buddy and his younger sister attended several Title 1 elementary schools in his early years moving each year, sometimes mid-year, with his divorced single mother. From 4th grade until graduation, Buddy attended school and graduated from Canton ISD, a rural district with few of the opportunities currently available to students in Lewisville ISD. By graduation, Buddy recognized the power of education and hard work to alter the trajectory of his life and pursued a college degree while working to support himself.

Buddy earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Tyler, his master’s degree at the University of North Texas, and his doctoral degree from Dallas Baptist University. Dr. Bonner maintains his professional certifications in Social Studies, Language Arts, Mid-Management and the Superintendency from the State Board of Educator Certification. As a teacher and campus administrator, Buddy taught Language Arts and Social Studies and lead Briarhill Middle School and Arbor Creek Middle School. He also worked leading the 21 schools in the Lewisville High School feeder pattern and lead the Employee Services department.

During his public education career, Dr. Bonner participated in the following professional organizations:

Dr. Bonner has been recognized for the following:
● Texas Parent Teacher Association Lifetime Membership, 1995
● Lewisville ISD Administrator of the Year Finalist, 2005 and 2013
● Lewisville ISD Administrator of the Year, 2011
In addition to his work, Dr. Bonner has volunteered in a variety of roles including:
● Lewisville Noon Rotary, Member and Board Member
● Special Abilities of North Texas, Member
● Highland Village Parks and Recreation Board, Alternate
● Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church, Member and Chair of Staff

● Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church, Member of Leadership Board

Service to the students, parents, and staff of Lewisville ISD defined Buddy’s career as a public educator. Buddy wishes to continue his service to the Lewisville ISD community
as a member of the Board of Trustees and help continue its long legacy as the premier public school district in Texas.
